ElectraNet, a leading energy company in South Australia, engaged Captovate to create a comprehensive eLearning course to train employees on their information management system.

The training needed to be clear, practical, and align with ElectraNet’s learning objectives.



Captovate began the project with a thorough review of the provided course outline, policy, and procedure documents. These documents outlined the role of the information management system and its correct usage, setting the groundwork for an instructive and efficient training experience.

Based on the clearly defined learning objectives, Captovate developed a structured script to guide learners through essential concepts and processes. Once the script was finalised, the team proceeded to create the slides, establishing a consistent look and feel along with core graphics to support the key messages and concepts.


The course adopted an instructivist learning approach, providing step-by-step video instructions that guided learners through critical processes within the information management system. To solidify understanding, learners were presented with specific scenarios and activities to complete within the actual system.


To confirm their success, learners had to accurately enter a specific piece of information, which could only be done correctly by following the real-world process outlined in the training. This hands-on approach ensured that employees not only understood the steps but could also apply them effectively in their day-to-day roles.

Using screencasting within Articulate Storyline, Captovate made the course interactive and practical. Learners gained direct experience with ElectraNet’s system, understanding how to efficiently store and categorise various complex information sources.


The eLearning course delivered by Captovate for ElectraNet successfully combined clear instructional content with practical activities, resulting in an engaging and effective training solution. Employees came away equipped with the knowledge and confidence to manage information correctly and efficiently within the organisation’s systems.
