User testing is the cornerstone of our approach to creating strategic information architecture (IA) and effective user experience design (UX).
By understanding how real users interact with your digital products, we gather valuable insights that shape the design process. Our goal is to ensure that every digital experience we create is intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with your business objectives.
When it comes to web design, you’ll hear a lot about UX and UI.
So what do these terms mean?
UX is all about how a user feels when they interact with your site. Does the navigation make sense? Is the layout easy to understand? Our UX designers focus on making your website as user-friendly and intuitive as possible, ensuring visitors find what they’re looking for with ease.
UI, on the other hand, focuses on the look and feel of your website—the visual elements like buttons, icons, fonts, and colors. Good UI design ensures that your site is not only beautiful but also reinforces your brand identity.
Our expert digital strategists lead the analysis and run face-to-face workshops. These sessions include focus group discussions, card sorting, persona creation, and customer journey mapping, ensuring that every design decision is deeply rooted in user needs and business goals.
Our human involvement is critical in interpreting data, facilitating discussions, and ensuring that the final product aligns with the expectations and experiences of real users. Often the greatest insights come from the discussion in the room.
Captovate has a large conference room where we run focus group discussions. We also have a testing suite, which contains a variety of devices, operating systems and browsers, allowing us to run user testing.
We conduct both pre-design and post-build testing to gather valuable insights. This includes card sorts, computer-based scenario tests, and split testing, all aimed at optimising user experiences. In a current project, for instance, we are testing the account setup process, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), to refine the user journey.
Split testing, also known as A/B testing, is a method used to compare two or more variations of a web page or element to determine which performs better. We create multiple versions of a page with slight differences, such as in layout, content, or call-to-action buttons, and then direct a portion of your traffic to each version. By analysing the results, we identify which variation leads to higher engagement or conversions, allowing us to optimise your website based on real user data. This process ensures that your final design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also effective in achieving your business goals.
This is a process we recently ran for our client AANT.
On the left are the two homepage designs, which alternately presented to the audience. From that testing, we presented data on which areas of each page were a more effective user experience.
For remote user testing, helping us gather insights on user behaviour.
Facilitates real-time feedback from target audiences.
Optimises user experiences through A/B testing, heatmaps, and user analytics.
Provides heatmaps and session recordings to visualise how users interact with your site, offering insights into where users click, scroll, and spend the most time.
A suite of tools for card sorting, tree testing and first-click testing, helping to refine IA and improve navigation.
Offers in-depth analysis of user behaviour with heatmaps, scrollmaps, and A/B testing tools, allowing for precise adjustments to UX and IA based on real user data.
The outcomes of the above testing are critical to refining user experience (UX) design and information architecture (IA). UX design focuses on creating interfaces that are not only visually appealing but also intuitive and efficient for users. By understanding how users interact with different elements through testing, we can optimise the design to enhance satisfaction and usability.
Information architecture (IA)
ensures that content is organised logically and intuitively, allowing users to navigate your site effortlessly. The insights gained from testing help us structure content in a way that aligns with user behaviour, making your site easier to use and more effective in achieving your business goals.
Together, we will work to create a seamless, engaging, and user-friendly digital experience for your customers.
